COVID-19 REMINDER: FACEMASKS ARE REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES ON TRANSIT VEHICLES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

 

 

Rules for Passengers while on board Macon County Transit:

 

  • Passengers should be ready and waiting upon MCT vehicle arrival.

  • Disruptive or abusive behavior (physical or verbal) toward other passengers or the driver will not be tolerated.

  • Profanity or vulgarity is not permitted while on board.

  • Passengers must wear seatbelts. This is NC State Law.

  • Passengers are not permitted to eat, drink, or use tobacco products of any kind on the vehicles.

  • No screaming, loud talking, singing, or playing mu-sic on MCT vehicles.

  • Inappropriate displays of affection toward the driver or other passengers will not be tolerated.

  • Weapons are not allowed on MCT vehicles.

  • A child under the age of 8 or 80 pounds will not be transported unless the parent provides an age appro-priate car seat.

  • Take all trash and personal belongings with you when exiting the vehicle.

  • MCT is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • Service Animals are welcome; pets must be in an appropriate carrier.

No-Show Policy

A No-Show occurs when the MCT vehicle arrives within 15 minutes of the scheduled pick up time and a valid cancellation has not been made one (1) hour previously or the rider has not boarded the vehicle within the 5 minute wait time. The schedule of fees for No-Shows occurring within a one year period is as follows:

  • 1-5 No-Shows: $10.00 per no-show

  • 6-10 No-Shows: $20.00 per no-show

  • 10+ No-Shows: $30.00 per no-show

  • Payment of all no-show fees must be made prior to booking any new trips on MCT.

Procedures:

As a recipient of Federal finance assistance, MCT (Macon County Transit) does not exclude, deny benefits to, or otherwise discriminate against any person on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or on the basis of disability or age in admission to, participation in, or receipt of the services and benefits of any of its programs and activities or in employment therein, whether carried out by MCT directly or through a contractor or any other entity with whom MCT arranges to carry out its programs and activities.

 

This statement is in accordance with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and Regulations of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued pursuant to the acts, Title 45 Code of Federal Regulations Part 80, 84, and 91, and the Regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation issued pursuant to the acts, Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations Part 21. (Other Federal Laws and Regulations provide similar protection against discrimination on grounds of sex and creed.)
